Its cliffs plunge abruptly into the waters of the Velebit Channel and serve as a natural shield from the cold north winds. The shoreline has a number of beaches and one of the most beautiful is the largest sandy beach in Lopar, a real mecca in the summer months for the thousand visitors. The sea around Rab is scattered with small islands and atolls whose many inlets, bays and coves contribute greatly to the irresistable charm of this verdant isle.
